Gene Schuyler Biography

Gold life master duplicate bridge player, private instructor, ACBL certified teacher and ACBL certified director.

I have been playing bridge since 1982 seriously (first master points recorded in 1968 from duplicate games)… although I played with my father at 13 ….. and earned my first master points at that time.  I have earned several blue ribbon and red ribbon qualifications by winning regional pair and team events, as well as placed in the national mixed pairs in the past.

I run my own bridge clubs Carlin Springs, Arlington DBC, and Lyon Park during the week and am the director for those clubs. I am the NVBA Unit Direct for the Thursday night game at Beth El .

Having worked as a marketing and advertising professional for most of my career, I always look to promote the game of bridge to all levels. At the junior levels this game offers mathematical challenges and the use of logic. During a working career, bridge can be a good escape from the stresses of work and when you are semi-retiring or actually going to retire bridge can be a passionate pastime!

Bridge to me is a stimulating game and we all can continue to thrive and develop life long learning in this sport. There is learning from teaching, playing, books reading and from  actual players interacting with you. The social aspects are fantastic for this sport and can’t be understated.

Whether you play party bridge, flight bridge with church groups, club groups, or duplicate there is always a fascination, competitiveness and enjoyment from this game.

So let the game of bridge begin!!!!
